Gathering Data and Interpreting Data

Potatofertility.com is dedicated to providing information to growers and agronomists involved in potato production. Every good plant fertility program starts with a soil test. In this page you will find links to papers and information needed to help interpret soil and tissue data, discuss new testing methods and also help determine how applications and techniques can help return higher value from the fertilizer budget.

Background

This information has been compiled over a period of 15 years. It was in response to the fact that in todays ‘commercial agriculture supplier’ world (your local fertilizer dealer) , you will see lots of support from chemical companies – supporting their products; herbicides, fungicides, insecticides, etc – for potato production. But when 40% or more of your budget is spent on fertilizers; ask your local fertilizer dealer how much plant nutrient technical support do they get. They will say, “Not very much”.

Therefore, we want to supply information to help growers and agronomists understand soil testing, nutrient availability and timing better.

This is one of the pages that will see many additions in the next 2-3 months, check back often.
